The mill in autumn, harvest and golden light

In September the garrigue breathes again: the light turns golden, the Gardon stays warm and the vines of Château de Bosc get ready for the harvest. The 1713 windmill opens its three bedrooms for a peaceful late-season stay, five minutes from the Pont du Gard.

Late season at the mill

The cicadas fall silent and the heat softens. In September the Gardon is still warm: the beaches at the Pont du Gard, five minutes away, regain their calm and you can still paddle a canoe beneath the arches. From the terrace, evening falls earlier over the umbrella pines and cypresses, and the swimming pool can be enjoyed until the last fine days. When the mistral blows, it leaves a crystal-clear sky. It is the time for walks in the Gardon gorges, for the big Saturday market in Uzès and for the Roman towns of Nîmes, Arles and Orange, visited without the summer crowds.

The grape harvest at Château de Bosc

Twenty minutes from the mill, in Domazan, the owner's family has grown vines at Château de Bosc since 1872 and pioneered organic, sulphite-free wines. At the end of summer the estate begins its harvest: the rows fill with crates, the cellar smells of fresh grapes and you are welcome to come and see it up close. A bottle from the estate awaits you on arrival at the mill. You can also enjoy a tasting in the cellar, the motorcycle museum, the bicycle museum, the Leonardo da Vinci garden and the children's museum. An afternoon between vines and garrigue.
